Hi all, this is the first Book exchange post! dertygirl has told me that shes not gonna be around much so I will get things rolling
The big question is how do we go about this? do we post books we are willing to exchange and invite e mails from intrested parties or what?

Hiya.

Thanks for taking this over, zaphodbblx. I just can't be arsed to put time into this forum when I have all sorts of people breathing down my neck because I've been neglecting everyone. But I will rejoin in the future when life settles down for me.

I just have one point to make first though ... I don't want anyone giving out there home address to strangers. That was actually a concern of mine after I put in the request for this group. We need to figure something out.

yeah that was my concern too...its the same kind of risk when you buy stuff through ebay though....this is a puzzler....any one got an idea?

Possible solutions

1)Get a PO box if you want to participate in this.

2)Choose a trusted 'mediator'that actually mails the books. 'Course, this person must have no outside life and must live to mail books to distant stumblers.

3)Throw caution to the wind and give out your address. Very much like the risks of ebay with the added thrill of some lunatic out there that has obsessively read your blog over and over - now can come visit!

I'm all for number three. My life could use some excitement.

Plus, you're holding out the greatest lure of all - FREE BOOKS.

Well ok Megellen, but I assume no responsibility for the lunatics you give your address to (or anyone else for that matter)

:P

Folks should have a PO box set up anyhow, if you're doing online stuff that involves deliveries.

Sometimes you can have stuff that's sent via Fedex delivered to a Kinko's near you, or sent via UPS and delivered to a Mailboxes Etc near you. This has an advantage over a regular PO box if, like me, your local PO closes right around the time you're getting off work and is hell of inconvenient.

hmmm...I wonder how much a po box costs?

Pretty cheap: usps.com/receive/businesssolutions/poboxfees.htm [usps.com/receive/businesssolutions/poboxfees.htm]

Though the chart is hard to read...
